Hacking is great, but making photos of the Universe is much greater.
I've been doing astrophotography for almost two years now. I had different telescopes and equipment to explore the Universe in different ways. Astrophotography can be much more exciting when connected with a gadgeteer. In my free time, I also create gadgets, like autofocus or stepper motor-driven GoTo (telescope mount and related software that can automatically point a telescope at astronomical objects that the user selects).
This can be fun because microcontrollers and software programming can also be applied to this hobby. My biggest passion for this hobby is to create gadgets
and software-based solutions for different functions of astrophotography. Rather than buying all of the equipment from the store, I prefer doing some of
the gadgets on my own. Also making an astrophoto can not be compared to daytime photography, it's much more complex because you have to make a lot of hours of exposure, consistently following the rotation of the earth, and calibration frames to get a processible image. Also processing this raw data is quite challenging, especially if you are enthusiastic like I am, because behind image processing there is a lot of science and math, that can be applied. Below you can see my equipment and one of the images I captured and I'm proud of:
